Today MRC joined the “Cool Club.” We have built an ICF home before, we have done geothermal heating. Today we used the spray foam insulation. A neat process that seals every nook and cranny in the wall. The foam is sprayed in a two part liquid form and then they react creating the finished foam. While I am still unsure of how long it will take to achieve the financial payback, I know this is the way I want to insulate my “dream” home. Watch a video of the spray process here.

How long can you make it last?

While researching how long an HVAC system will last for a client, I discovered this “Life Expectancy” chart put together by the National Home Builder’s Association. You can find the same information from a simple internet search. But I felt that having it put in front of you now might help later.

Now is the time when families start to plan summer vacations, back yard beautification projects, or additions to the “honey-do list.” Budgeting for these projects might be simple. But if your budget doesn’t account for the age of equipment already in your home, you might find yourself over budget before the project is finished.

Review the equipment in your home, know how old it is, and when you can expect it to fail. The hot tub at the Holiday Inn is a lot nicer than the hot tub your water heater will make of your basement.

Is it Friday yet?

Through the past couple of weeks, I have tried to increase the web presences of MRC. While I am convinced that no one is looking for a builder on the internet, or Facebook for that matter. However, I realize that I have friends from high school, acquaintances, and business networks that might have a friend, or family member that is looking for a builder. With the ever growing social media, I am now convinced that I might be committing business suicide if I don’t jump on the wave now. Today is my third post to try to get my current network of friends to try to “like” the page I have created for MRC.

This week my mom and dad have been out of town. I have had the luxury of covering the phones for all three, and checking emails for my mom. They return tonight, and will handle will assume their own tasks again in the morning. It is only Thursday, but with the burden of work load removed from my shoulders, it might as well be Friday.

This is the first post to the blog on the website. I will use this as an educational tool for my friends, so that maybe at one point, something I have done here will trigger their memory and they will call for my services.
